What's it like to negotiate a contract? (From the "other" side)
Find out about it here, on Suisan's blog. Very interesting post. So this is what it's like to be on the other side! :)
But in case I haven't expressed it carefully enough, I deeply respect the teachers and the union in our district. I usually enjoy our conversations.
But, like anything else, negotiations can be really frustrating. Really frustrating.
The end point to the story is that for the contract in question, both sides ratified a two year agreement including a 3.5% salary increase in year one with an almost 6% salary increase compounded in year two. We all were very happy at the end of the school year.
We'll start negotiating a new three year contract in August.
